During the March 9, 2021 community meeting, there was a "lively" discussion about the Civic Association resigning from the Gum Springs Community Center Advisory Board (Advisory Board).  There were two major concerns:

1.  Objection that the President resigned on behalf of the community without the matter being discussed in advance with the community.
  • After hearing from at least two community residents, a comment period was opened and available for all residents to provide comments in advance of the September 8, 2020 community.  Click on the e-mail thread document and Advisory Board Notice Resignation document below.

2.  Reason for resignation
  • It was incorrectly stated that no reason was provided for resigning.  Click on Response for Resignation document below that was sent and posted on the community website in advance of the September 8, 2020 community meeting.
  • It should also be noted that both the NGSCA and Advisory Board presidents were requested to provide to the community their organization's position about the Civic Association's resignation.  Only the NGSCA president provided the written response, which is provided below.

  • During the September 2020 community meeting, a member of the Advisory Board introduced a motion for the Civic Association to resign and the motion was seconded by a member of the Civic Association.   To be clear of the action, an Advisory Board asked for clarification about the motion and after all questions were addressed, the process proceeded.  Of the 19 individuals attending the meeting, 8 voted.  The result of the vote was 6-2 to resign.  The president of the Civic Association did not vote.
  • Both the Advisory Board President and Advisory Board Vice President attended the meeting, heard the discussion and vote.  Neither the Advisory Board President or Advisory Board Vice President voted.
