A Certain Pride of Gum Springs 1966 is a short documentary demonstrating community action to have the community transformed into a livable community as one teenage resident compares Gum Springs to Waynewood--wanting the same public services and being proud to live in Gum Springs. Gum Springs sued Fairfax County to obtain those public services.
For longtime Gum Springs residents who may view the documentary, you will see familiar faces of individuals who are still connected and live in the community such as the Bellfield, Carter and Saunders families. One final note is that the Mount Vernon Supervisor at the time was Herb Harris who was affectionately known in Gum Springs as "Happy Herbie." His grandson currently lives in Gum Springs!
Gum Springs is gratefully thankful to the individual for preserving and sharing this historic video!
